A few brightly lit colors in the sky, Can easy explain my heart at this point. The crackling of the red sparks, Are an echo of the beating of my heart. Slow and aching, Each beat slower than the last. The blue streams that reach highest highs, Is the hope my heart thinks it can still cling onto. The purple that bursts into a million other colours, Is my heart shattering like a mirror. And as you smile at the beautiful coloured sparks in the sky, I fake a smile in the hopes that you'll never know, The similarities between my shattered heart And the sparks you love more than me.

I pick apart the memories that hide inside this shard. The tiny piece of glass that holds my life within its thin coating. Every step every breath reflected off its clear surface. I raise the shard to my eyes and stare at it, I see the days of my youth; Kicking up leaves in the forest with her. I smile for once in a long time. But the image changed and the glass shows me the end. I can not stand to look at it anymore I throw the glass to the ground and it shatters again. And so I sat In a class full of people ten times smarter than me, But I don't care about them. I was long shot, A facade. An acceptance through hilarity. I don't belong here. I sit quietly, wearing school colours, Taking notes in blue and gold. I hate this place. I hate these people. Ten more days here, Another list that I made it on. One step closer to leaving. One step. Finally I'm leaving. Bags all packed, New shirts, New pants. Old colours. I'm home, And happy to be here. But I still feel like I'll miss them The Oxford blue And the golden yellow too.

Toss and yearn

Night falls. I... tilt. Faceless world, windowsills. No one goes gentle into the light- less hours of life. The long gone joy from such faux friends, their shallow smiles, moronic "Whys". It does-does soothe one's troubled thoughts, so deep in silence, devoid of time. The blowing wind... Hush-chill, hush-chill. What, then, but sleep? Though, I -- still -- am wide awake.

Who would give up on Everything And turn their lives into a battleground? Who would rejoice in happiness on Earth And not be Heaven-bound? All men are sinners And all sins are mundane. How to avoid such weakness While struggling to be sane? The ones who fear Are the most courageous Because they face What they find outrageous. And God Himself Will take our hands, He'll guide us through, He'll help us stand. We're all at fault. Do we deserve it, All of His Love? All of His Mercy? It's been a while since we've done these, but they're ba-a-a-ack! So, without further ado, here are the prompts for this coming week (see if you can guess the overall theme). :) Monday- Write a short poem using detailed imagery about a broken heart. Tuesday- Write a poem of any format about moving on. Wednesday- Write an acrostic poem about bravery. Thursday- Write a long poem about embracing the past. Friday- Write a narrative poem about taking a leap of faith. Also, I'm looking for someone willing to draw a couple of characters for me in exchange for a poem or two. The little girl was dancing on the street, among the entrails of a once bustling suburb now strewn chaotically across the scorching asphalt. Her blithesome essence shone through her skin, in the whimsical way she twirled and threw her arms in the air, brushing her wayward curls aside. She crafted a dust storm and trapped the sunlight in her eyes, oblivious to the rubble sinking into her toes and the loaded gun in her brothers hand. Bang.
